OTTAWA -- The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) is pleased to announce the Canadian Sheep Federation (CSF) will be joining its membership January 1, 2015.
"We are thrilled the sheep sector will have a strong voice at our table. We know this will further enhance our policy work and advocacy efforts on behalf of Canadian producers. We look forward to working together for the sheep sector and on solutions for the agriculture industry as a whole," said CFA President Ron Bonnett.
CSF is a producer funded organization that represents sheep and wool producers across the country. The Canadian sheep industry is currently facing exciting opportunities to grow its markets, further securing the prosperity of its sector and the agriculture sector at large.
"The CFA is an important advocate for Canadian producers and a vital table for us to be at. We are pleased we'll be able to bring the sheep sector's perspective into the discussions and believe this partnership will strengthen our sector's advocacy efforts. We're looking forward to starting off the new year working on issues like trade and the next suite of agricultural policy with the CFA," said CSF Chair, Phil Kolodychuk.
The Canadian Federation of Agriculture is the country's largest general farm organization. Its members include provincial general farm organizations, national and inter-provincial commodity organizations - representing over 200,000 Canadian farmers and farm families through its members. Founded in 1935 to provide Canada's farmers with a single voice in Ottawa, the CFA works on behalf of Canada's farmers to ensure the continued development of a viable and vibrant agriculture and agri-food industry in Canada.
