Despite continued assaults on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) in 2013, Renewable Fuels Association President Bob Dinneen is optimistic about the future of the ethanol industry.

Dinneen says one reason for optimism is the progress that has been made toward commercialization of next generation biofuels.

However, Dinneen is disappointed that Congress has failed to extend tax credits into 2014 for next generation biofuels development.

Regarding continued attacks on the RFS in 2013, Dinneen says they expected to have to keep fending off those wanting to change the law, but the EPA proposal in November to lower the standard in 2014 was unexpected.
