Farm Science Review, Ag Event Begins In London, Ohio.

By Emily Bennett

Farm Science Review is known as Ohio’s premier agricultural event and draws more than 130,000 farmers, growers, producers and agricultural enthusiasts from across the U.S. and Canada annually. Participants are able to peruse 4,000 product lines from roughly 620 commercial exhibitors and engage in educational workshops, presentations and demonstrations delivered by experts from Ohio State University Extension and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, which are the outreach and research arms, respectively, of the college.

Smartphone and tablet users planning on attending the 2014 Farm Science Review, sponsored by The Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Sept. 16 to 18 at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center in London, Ohio, can now download this year’s customized mobile app complete with a full schedule, comprehensive maps and general exhibitor and show information.

This is the third year for the FSR app, which allows users to access a variety of information about the Review from their mobile devices.

The app has been popular among attendees and exhibitors of the annual, three-day show, said Matt Sullivan, assistant manager of the Farm Science Review.

“The convenience of the FSR mobile app is the main reason why it’s been so popular these past couple of years,” he said. “You have anything and everything you need to know about the show in the palm of your hand.”

With the app, users can:

  • View the complete show schedule and create a personal schedule.
  • Set reminders before specific sessions start.
  • View detailed session information, including speaker bios.
  • Provide feedback on sessions.
  • View a show map.
  • Locate food vendors.
  • View exhibitor information.
  • Connect with FSR on Facebook and Twitter.

Unverferth Manufacturing, Trimble, John Deere and JD Equipment, all Review exhibitors, are sponsors of the app this year.

The FSR app, which can be used on all cellphone types and tablets, is available at fsr.osu.edu/SRg. On most phones and tablets, users can bookmark the page for future reference, organizers said.

This year’s show will mark the 10th anniversary of partnership with Purdue University and Purdue Extension. Educators and researchers from Purdue will also present educational workshops. Tickets will be sold at the gate for $10.
