Government of Canada strengthens food safety training

 Mississauga, ON - Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Today, on behalf of the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Health, Member of Parliament Brad Butt announced $850,000 in federal funding for Safe Food Canada: The Learning Partnership. Safe Food Canada is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing food safety by establishing a consistent set of competencies for all food workers in Canada.

Safe Food Canada: The Learning Partnership will bring together industry, academia and governments across the country towards building a stronger food safety system that aligns food safety learning and training to the evolving current and future needs of the industry. This will build a solid foundation to ensure continued improvement and coordination of quality of food safety education and training.

Through collaborative approaches to learning, Safe Food Canada will reinforce Canada's reputation as a world leader in food safety by enhancing compliance with regulations and reducing duplication of efforts and training costs for all parties.
