Harry Siemens Talks With Jim Wickett Rosetown, Sk Rain, Rain And Wheat Research

CANTERRA SEEDS and LIMAGRAIN have formed Limagrain Cereals Research Canada. The company will be developing new cereal varieties, focussing mainly on wheat and building a research facility in Saskatoon.

Blair Rutter, executive director of WCWG says congratulates the companies and thanks the federal government for passing legislation that is bringing about this sort of private investment in breeding research in Canada.

“The Wheat Growers were leading proponents of Bill C-18 and our work here is bearing fruit,” says Rutter. Jim Wickett farms at Rosetown, Sk., and chairs the WCWG. First he talks about the rain in their area Friday night, then about the research, and about wheat needing this kind of assistance having lacked behind for so many years.
