Let your smartphone be your guide thanks to the 2014 Arkansas Rice Expo app.
The app, available for both iOS and Android smart phones, is “available at no cost and will help you navigate the exhibit area, while organizing your activities and staying abreast of the many events,” said Dharmendra Saraswat, associate professor and extension engineer for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
Arkansas is the nation’s top rice grower and each year more than 1,100 people come to the Arkansas Rice Expo for food, fun and farm info. This year’s Arkansas Rice Expo is set for Friday, Aug. 1, at the Grand Prairie Center, 2807 Highway 165 South, in Stuttgart from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be sessions on the new Farm Bill, field tours, fun activities for all ages, seminars on irrigation, horticulture, and cooking demonstrations, farmers markets, and rice recipe contest.
The app can help users find directions to the Grand Prairie Center, said Saraswat, the app developer.
Once they are at the Rice Expo, this app works in navigating attendees to the different venues.
