Ontario Recognizing Excellence in Retailing Local Food

Minister Jeff Leal presented the 2015 Foodland Ontario Retailer Awards to sixty-nine grocery retailers, from across the province, for their creative in-store displays, making it easier for consumers to recognize and buy the good things that grow in Ontario.

The annual Foodland Ontario Retailer Awards is the produce industry's premier competition for excellence in display and promotion, and support of Ontario foods.

The recipients for the 2015 Foodland Ontario Award of Excellence are:

  • Andrew & Emily's No Frills, Picton
  • Food Basics #697, Sudbury
  • Food Basics #932, St. Catharines
  • Metro #147, Windsor
  • Metro #453, Bowmanville
  • Stewart's Town & Country Market, Mildmay

Recognizing local food initiatives is part of the government's economic plan for Ontario. The four part plan is building Ontario up by investing in people's talents and skills, building new public infrastructure like roads and transit, creating a dynamic, supportive environment where business thrives, and building a secure saving plan so everyone can afford to retire.
