Ozark Feeder Cattle Conference To Cover Risk Management, Market Outlook

Health, risk management and at look at how the market winds are blowing are on the agenda for the Aug. 1, Ozark Feeder Cattle Conference.

The conference will be held at the Durand Center in Harrison. The conference runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and the cost is $20 at the door.

“This is an opportunity for Arkansas cattlemen to take a closer look at issues directly affecting their business such as marketing and risk management,” said Danny Griffin, Van Buren County extension staff chair for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

There will be talks from key speakers Derrell Peel, an ag economist with Oklahoma State, Daniel Scruggs, DVM, of Zoetis Pharrmaceuticals, and Tim Daven of Commodity Risk Management. There will also be two sets of breakout sessions on topics including:

  • Calculating Breakeven for Making Buying & Selling Decisions - Tom Troxel, associate head, Animal Science, for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
  • Leaving money on the table - Shane Gadberry, associate professor-ruminant nutrition for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

Wrapped around the talks is a trade show and exhibits.
