Where is the best start farming opportunity?
Report this Message
Land prices in midwest are through the roof if there is any ground for sale. Everyone wants to grow with these corn and soybean prices. Are there any outside the box ideas out there?
As farmers we like to think of ourselves as great business people. So instead of competing with our neighbors and friends pick another place in the world to farm. Which countries have the best opportunities?
Jake
What do guys think about Brazil or Eastern Europe - i have never been to either?

Hello Jake, Kudos to you for thinking with an open mind. The future of agriculture is going to be very exciting with lots of opportunities for those williing to adapt and meet the needs of the changing marketplace. I'd like to suggest looking to the next (and last) real farming frontier--Africa. Europe and South America have already been picked over and locals have more clout than an American ever will. Africa is different, and the right approach will earn returns on your labor several times over what is available elsewhere in the world. I'd like to connect with you if you have an interest. I am personally active in both West Africa and southern Africa. Nice post. John
