PRIDE SEEDS Working with Producers to Increase Yield Potential Above and Beyond the Magical 300 Bu/Acre Mark
Pain Court, ON – PRIDE Seeds has announced the launch of its PRIDE 300 Plus Bushel Initiative. “What has become clear from corn yields we have seen over the last few years in Eastern Canada is that when we put the right combination of genetics, traits, fertility, plant health and soil tilth together we have the potential for explosive yields,” notes Stephen Denys, Vice President of Sales and Marketing with PRIDE Seeds. “Our goal with the PRIDE 300 Plus Bushel Initiative is to not only work with producers to break the magical 300 bushel mark on a field scale, but more so to develop and work on best management practices that will allow our customers to profitably increase their corn yields on a consistent year to year basis.”
“To reach the yield goals we have set with this program, we will be analyzing and collaborating with our co-operators on all of the variables that we can control throughout the production season,” says Ken Currah, Central Market Development Agronomist who is coordinating the 300 Bushel Initiative together with Dan Foster, Western Market Development Agronomist with PRIDE Seeds. “This starts with genetic selection. We will be utilizing our high yield potential PRIDE G Series hybrids as the base to the program. These hybrids combining elite genetics with key trait combinations including Genuity® VT Double Pro™ and Genuity® SmartStax™, have proven their potential to break the barrier in trials,” he notes. “Now we will push their potential by managing the other input variables that contribute to yield.”
Currah says PRIDE Seeds will be working with selected producers in 2010 on the PRIDE 300 Bushel Initiative. Follow these producers and the program on-line through the growing season at www.prideseed.com and on Twitter at PRIDESEEDS.
