Ontario Winter Wheat Yield Above Average


There is some very good news regarding yields in the latest crop report from OMAFRA.Winter Wheat specialist Peter Johnson says the current provincial yield of 83 bushels per acre is above the long term average of 79.9. Johnson says many growers are planning to seed more winter wheat acreage this fall. Crop specialist Scott Banks says the spring cereal harvest is almost complete except for weather holding things up in a few areas.

Banks says spring wheat yields were average or below with higher levels of fusarium showing up in the later harvested wheat. Crop Specialis Brian Hall is reporting the Canola harvest is 50 percent complete.
