USDA : Weekly Export Sales Highlights

Wheat:  Net sales of 825,800 metric tons for delivery in 2009/10--a marketing-year high--were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for the Philippines (187,600 MT), unknown destinations (113,300 MT), Nigeria (107,100 MT), Japan (77,300 MT), Morocco (75,000 MT), Thailand (47,100 MT), and Venezuela (47,000 MT).  Net sales of 60,500 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for the Philippines.  Exports of 316,600 MT were up 9 percent from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (86,900 MT), Nigeria (37,200 MT), Taiwan (30,900 MT), Italy (27,500 MT), and Venezuela (26,500 MT).  

Corn:  Net sales of 1,610,400 MT for delivery in 2009/10--a marketing-year high--were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for unknown destinations (408,600 MT), Japan (290,700 MT, including 70,600 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 94,500 MT), South Korea (268,500 MT), Taiwan (173,400 MT, including 25,400 MT switched from Japan), Egypt (149,800 MT, including 29,800 MT switched from Taiwan), Mexico (113,600 MT), Guatemala (58,100 MT, including 18,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Saudi Arabia (45,000 MT).  Net sales of 400 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for Mexico.  Exports of 835,900 MT were up 27 percent from the previous week and 22 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (232,400 MT), South Korea (159,600 MT), Mexico (148,500 MT), Syria (78,200 MT), Ecuador (30,400 MT), and Egypt (29,800 MT).

Barley: There were no sales reported during the week.  Exports of 200 MT were to Taiwan.

Sorghum:  Net sales of 75,600 MT were primarily for Mexico (75,100 MT) and Japan (6,100 MT, including 5,700 MT switched from unknown destinations).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (5,700 MT).  Exports of 58,300 MT were to Mexico (41,200 MT), Japan (17,000 MT), and Canada (100 MT).

Rice:  Net sales of 55,100 MT were down 71 percent from the previous week and 48 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (20,200 MT), Japan (13,400 MT), Costa Rica (7,000 MT), the United Kingdom (2,100 MT), and Yemen (2,000 MT).  Exports of 69,900 MT were up 27 percent from the previous week and 4 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (21,900 MT), Turkey (20,200 MT), Japan (13,800 MT), Canada (2,700 MT), and Saudi Arabia (2,100 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales of 929,600 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were up 23 percent from the previous week and 7 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for China (700,400 MT, including 226,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 40,200 MT), Mexico (113,100 MT), Egypt (80,700 MT, including 33,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Germany (77,300 MT, including 70,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), the Netherlands (64,900 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Spain (63,200 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 2,800 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (424,600 MT).  Net sales of 61,000 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were primarily for unknown destinations (55,000 MT).  Exports of 1,546,600 MT were down 5 percent from the previous week, but up 22 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (859,600 MT), Spain (123,200 MT), Mexico (81,200 MT), Germany (77,300 MT), the Netherlands (64,900 MT), and Japan (60,300 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 416,200 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were up 17 percent from the previous week and 74 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for France (106,200 MT, including 95,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Indonesia (67,400 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Canada (30,400 MT), Denmark (30,000 MT), and Italy (25,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (3,900 MT) and Malaysia (300 MT).  Net sales of 1,400 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for Canada.  Exports of 284,600 MT were down 10 percent from the previous week, but up 1 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were France (106,200 MT), Indonesia (64,900 MT), Canada (19,900 MT), Poland (19,300 MT), and Israel (17,500 MT).

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 10,400 MT for delivery in 2009/10 resulted as increases for Morocco (14,000 MT, including 15,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,000 MT), Mexico (11,100 MT), India (10,000 MT, including 5,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), and South Korea (8,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (40,300 MT).  There were no sales reported for delivery in 2010/11.  Exports of 89,600 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were India (55,000 MT), Morocco (14,000 MT), South Korea (8,000 MT), and Venezuela (5,000 MT).

Cotton:  Net Upland sales of 321,900 running bales for delivery in 2009/10 were down 26 percent from the previous week, but up 8 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (123,900 RB), Turkey (58,800 RB, including 4,600 RB switched from China), Thailand (29,700 RB, including 900 RB switched from Japan), Mexico (28,900 RB), and Vietnam (16,800 RB).  Net sales of 13,300 RB for delivery in 2010/11 were for Morocco (10,600 RB) and South Korea (2,700 RB).  Exports of 197,100 RB were up 9 percent from the previous week and 53 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (69,900 RB), Mexico (32,300 RB), Turkey (31,300 RB), Indonesia (11,100 RB), and Vietnam (8,900 RB).  Net American Pima sales of 11,300 RB were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 15 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for China (5,000 RB), Pakistan (2,600 RB), Taiwan (2,000 RB), and India (1,000 RB). There were no sales reported for delivery in 2010/11.  Exports of 25,900 RB were up 17 percent from the previous week, but down 20 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (8,300 RB), India (7,500 RB), South Korea (2,800 RB), Pakistan (2,600 RB), and Peru (2,000 RB)

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 432,000 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, up 52 percent from the previous week.  Whole cattle hide sales of 429,500 pieces were primarily for China (182,500 pieces), South Korea (97,300 pieces), Taiwan (68,600 pieces), Hong Kong (42,400 pieces), and Mexico (17,200 pieces).  Exports of 379,900 pieces were down 11 percent from the previous week.  Whole cattle hide exports of 371,900 pieces were primarily to China (168,300 pieces), South Korea (105,300 pieces), Taiwan (29,400 pieces), Mexico (18,500 pieces), Thailand (16,900 pieces), and Hong Kong (10,500 pieces).

Net sales of 127,800 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were up noticeably from the previous week.  The primary buyers were China (36,500 unsplit and 15,800 grain splits), Vietnam (34,600 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (26,400 unsplit), and Mexico (24,000 grain splits and 100 unsplit).  Decreases were reported for Hong Kong (6,200 grain splits), Japan (3,600 unsplit and 1,400 grain splits), and Brazil (1,400 unsplit).  Exports of 131,200 hides were primarily for China (39,300 unsplit and 6,400 grain splits), Italy (26,200 unsplit), Mexico (19,200 grain splits and 1,700 unsplit), Vietnam (14,600 unsplit), and Thailand (9,200 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totaling 737,800 pounds resulted as increases for China (836,100 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for Italy (68,400 pounds) and South Korea (29,900 pounds).  Exports of 229,000 pounds were for South Korea (129,000 pounds), Taiwan (50,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (50,000 pounds).  

Beef:  Net sales of 9,800 MT for delivery in 2010 were primarily for Mexico (2,100 MT), Hong Kong (1,700 MT), South Korea (1,400 MT), Japan (1,200 MT), and Vietnam (1,200 MT).  Exports of 10,200 MT were primary to Mexico (3,400 MT), Canada (1,400 MT), Vietnam (1,200 MT), South Korea (1,000 MT), and Japan (1,000 MT).
