A specially designed frame and 10HD Series openers take big-acreage conservation tillage to a new level.
Designed for those who require air drill capacity in today’s tough no-till environment, the new 3N-4010HDA no-till air implement from Great Plains is the first to use the 10HD series opener on a specially designed no-till frame.
According to Tom Evans, vice president of sales at Great Plains, “the heart of the implement is the 10HD opener, which combines precise seed placement with the brute strength to handle tough conditions. It starts with 15-inch diameter by 4-millimeter thick planter-style blades for improved trash clearance and penetration and up to 500 pounds of down force per row unit. In the meantime, an 18-position T-handle depth adjustment system ensures that seed is planted at a consistent depth for emergence.”
“Opener discs are offset ½” to ensure proper trench formation. Cast blade separators protect the seed tubes and provide disc stability in all conditions.” Evans explains. “For a custom fit, customers can choose 3 x 13 center rib, double V 1 x 12 or double wedge press wheels and select from a list of options that include frame-mounted coulters, unit-mounted coulters, Keeton seed firmers and two different scrapers.”
“The 10HD row units are only part of the equation, though. The new 3N-4010HDA also utilizes a floating tongue to follow ground contours while the parallel linkage on the openers provide over 10 inches of vertical travel. The implement additionally features 12 degrees of wing flex up and down to follow the terrain while six 18 X 22.5 high flotation tires reduce field compaction and increase accuracy.”
“The Dickey-John IntelliAg display monitors a host of functions and can be set up to include blockage monitoring on every row,” Evans adds. “Team this implement with the new ADC2350 350-bushel pull-behind cart and you have one highly productive seeding system.”
