Guelph, ON - Pyramidâ FP 5 + Presponse® SQ is a new five-way modified-live vaccine + pasteurella bacterin for use in beef and dairy cattle from Wyeth Animal Health. Pyramid FP 5 + Presponse SQ with its one-dose subcutaneous administration, aids in preventing illness associated with five common viruses and pasteurella: bovine virus diarrhea (BVD) Type I and Type II, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), parainfluenza Type 3 (PI-3), bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) and Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica. These diseases are all considered to be potential factors in the development of various forms of respiratory disease in cattle. Pyramid FP 5 + Presponse SQ also aids in the prevention of persistent BVD Types I & II infection of the fetal calf when used subcutaneously in the cow or heifer 30-60 days pre-breeding. The Pyramid FP 5 + Presponse SQ product features the Metastim adjuvant system, which increases immunological response by enhancing antigen presentation. Metastim gives this vaccine the unique ability to protect the vaccine antigen from being bound and rendered ineffective by pre-existing circulating antibody, whether that be maternal antibody in the young calf or antibody created by previous exposure or vaccination in older cattle.
