Barry Nelson loves Louisville.

More specifically, John Deere’s manager of media relations enjoys the National Farm Machinery Show because it brings everyone together under one roof, “and it’s very convenient for our customers. Despite the weather this year.”

Nelson said at this year’s show that a steady crowd of customers had visited the Deere exhibit, and while farmers are generally cautious, there is good value and some excellent equipment and technology solutions in play at this time.

“Farmers are seeing there are some very good deals on used equipment right now. Add in some of the precision ag technology that’s available, and you can put together something very good.”

Not to mention Deere’s Certified Pre-Owned program, which has farmers thinking about the marketing line “sometimes the best addition to your fleet isn’t new.”

The program includes Deere tractors, combines and sprayers that been put through field-testing, inspecting and certification on over 170 points for tractors, and 200 points on combines and self-propelled sprayers.

The following machines qualify:

• 4WD, 8R, 8RT, and 7R Tractors—three years old or newer with fewer than 1,500 engine hours

• S-Series Combines—two years old or newer with fewer than 1,000 engine hours

• Self-Propelled Sprayers—two years old or newer with fewer than 1,000 engine hours

• Passed full John Deere Certified Pre-Owned Inspection

• Passed total fluid scan analysis

• Service completed by a John Deere Technician with Genuine John Deere parts
