Plant disease forecasts, warnings and advisories are important tools for making pre-plant and in-season management decisions.

The Plant Management Network (PMN) has released a new presentation entitled “Soybean Disease Forecasting” to help professionals understand how different types of warnings are developed and how recommendations can be used to assess disease threat and optimize control strategies.

The webcast, developed by Damon Smith, Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, provides an overview of warning services and discusses:
  1. Life cycles of soybean cyst nematodes, white mold, and soybean rust
  2. Characteristics of reliable and effective disease warning services
  3. Accuracy of prediction models that utilize weather data
The 29-minute presentation will remain open access through December 31 in the Focus on Soybean webcast resource.
