Demand for goat meat is on the rise in Ontario and our industry is struggling to fill it. Here lies a great opportunity for the producers to grow the industry through the raising of dairy buck kids. Jillian Craig, Small Ruminant Specialist, OMAFRA, will present at this year’s AGM and Producer Education Day to deliver a comprehensive presentation on the economics of raising dairy buck kids. She’ll focus on the importance of colostrum, feeding management, stress, health challenges, mixing, and general husbandry required to successfully get dairy buck kids to market.  Be there to learn how dairy buck kids can become a revenue stream for your operation.

Also, we’re excited to have Dr. Paula Menzies, University of Guelph, launch her manual, A Guide to Udder Health for Dairy Goats, at our AGM. The guide is designed to educate producers and industry personnel on how to best maintain the health of the udder in order to produce high quality milk. Providing a superior product is something Ontario dairy goat producers pride themselves in. Maintaining udder health helps to ensure consistent, quality milk. Come and hear Dr. Menzies’ share her tips on avoiding mastitis and strengthening whole herd udder health. Your customers and your goats will thank you.

Video: Best of 2022 - Dairy Farming in Saskatchewan

From seeding to harvesting, we are always busy on our family dairy farm in Saskatchewan,Canada.

We do our best to make quality feed for our cows so they stay healthy and provide the best quality milk (real from a cow).

This year was the first time trying tile drainage on one field. We already noticed how much dryer it is in the low spots and we hope that it improves the salinity issues over time.

It was another dry year but we had much better yields than last year and are grateful that we were able get enough feed.
