2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo – Plowing results – Day 1

IVY, ON – The 2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) in Simcoe County, opened to good crowds and good weather. Visitors enjoyed the Parade and opening ceremonies, which included greetings from Premier Wynne and the IPM and Ontario Plowmen’s Association dignitaries and a talk by Curling Gold medalist Jennifer Jones.

The 2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo features a 100-acre Tented City with over 500 vendors and exhibitors; agricultural, antique & historical displays. They will enjoy new farming exhibits and shows including the new Ontario Light Horses Tent and the Farming 101 Tent with lectures on topics such as Agri- Tourism, new Crops and Innovations, and Environmental. And they will enjoy the fabulous array of local entertainment.

The BMO Bank of Montreal Plowing Competitor got underway ion open days as well. Results include:

About the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo
The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo celebrates farming’s history with our extensive historical displays and demonstrations. The 2014 IPM also showcases the modern with some of the newest and most advanced plows and agricultural equipment on the market competing.
 
About the Ontario Plowmen’s Association
The OPA is the parent host of the International Plowing Match. Each year the OPA partners with a local plowing association to organize and host the International Plowing Match. The IPM is a sanctioned member of the North American Farm Show Council. As such, it maintains the highest standards set by the council.
 
The organization of a provincial Association in 1911 gave life to branches all across the province. The numbers grew until today, with 48 local plowing groups affiliated with the parent body: the Ontario Plowmen's Association (OPA).
