Canadian Pork Excellence Designed to Accommodate Ongoing Evolution

The Director of Government and Corporate Affairs with the Canadian Pork Council says Canada's updated on farm food quality and safety and animal care assurance program will be a living constantly evolving program.

Canadian Pork Excellence, the Canadian pork sector's updated food quality and safety and animal care assurance program, has been under development since 2014 and the following extensive pilot testing on farms across Canada, the supporting program materials and guides have been scheduled for printing and distribution.

Gary Stordy, the Director of Government and Corporate Affairs with the Canadian Pork Council, this is an important next step.

Gary Stordy-Canadian Pork Council:

We've moved forward on printing, not because we're at the end of the process but more of a sense that this is not like a book where we're an author and the book is done and now it's time to go to printing.

We have sufficient context and wording for the outline of the program that we can print it and have it essentially available.

But this is still considered essentially a living document where chapters and things that need to get changed can easily be pulled out and reintegrated and reinserted back in.
We're pleased to be at this point where the document can be more widely available.
