Mississauga, ON - Over the past five years, glyphosate-resistant Canada Fleabane has been on the march in Ontario's soybean-growing areas. Now, growers have a new and powerful tool to manage this problem weed.
DuPont Crop Protection announced today that DuPont™ Canopy™ PRO herbicide has received registration for control of Canada Fleabane, including biotypes that are resistant to glyphosate, in soybeans.
According to Dave Kloppenburg, Row Crop Manager with DuPont Crop Protection, this label extension will be welcome news for growers. "Back in 2010, Ontario's first cases of glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane occurred in Essex County," says Kloppenburg. "In the years since, the problem has spread north and hundreds of kilometers east from there. In 2014, 24 counties reported confirmed cases of glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane. It's now a serious issue in soybean production."
