Crop Advisers Workshop Scheduled

The Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 10-11, at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. 

The workshop is designed to provide in-depth discussion of selected topics for agricultural professionals to enhance their crop production recommendations for farmers. The event is organized and conducted by the NDSU Extension Service and University of Minnesota Extension.

Feb. 10 educational sessions are:

  • Beyond the buzz: Can unmanned aerial vehicles make money for farmers?
  • Practical uses of drone imagery/technology in agriculture
  • Saline and sodic soils: Identifying the issue and looking at your options
  • Corn pest threats
  • Adjuvants and sprayer technology for weed management

Also, a presentation, "North Dakota: Drawn to History," is scheduled during lunch.

Feb. 11 educational sessions are:

  • Genetically modified organisms: a story of safety
  • Placement and timing of fertilizer application for greater efficiency
  • Soybean disease interactions and management options
  • 2014 farm bill crop program/conservation compliance
  • Uncovering cover crops

Two interactive displays also will be available are:

  • NDSU pest management app
  • Weed identification

Preregistration is requested. The workshop fee is $140 if received by Feb. 6 or $75 if attending one day. Late registration fees are $175 or $100 for one day. The fee includes three meals and refreshment breaks, and references.

Certified crop advisers will have the opportunity to receive 11 continuing education units.
