Delisle's Gerry Ritz Retires As Minister Of Agriculture

In a brief statement Ritz, who was born and raised on a farm near Rosetown, announced that he will not be returning to Ottawa this fall.

Ritz served as the Minister of Agriculture from 2007 to 2015 and was responsible for the overhaul of the Canadian Wheat Board.

Cypress Hills Grasslands MP David Anderson was his seat mate in Ottawa and served as his Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and the Canadian Wheat Board.

"His role as the Agriculture Minister has been extremely significant," Anderson said. "Obviously the kind of flag ship changes that he made were around the Canadian Wheat Board and opening the single desk that changed the landscape of agriculture in western Canada in a positive way, it was a great move, one that I supported and one that worked on for many years as its one of the reasons I went to Ottawa in August of 2012, it was just great to be able to see that change."
