Dry Conditions Affecting Canola

Flea beetles continue to be a concern for canola growers, especially in areas which have experienced a lack of rain this spring.

Angela Brackenreed, agronomist with the Canola Council of Canada, says that flea beetles are outpacing the growth of the plant in many fields.

She believes the crop can recover if conditions turn around.

"Now we have some heat that is helping to speed up growth, and if we can just get a little bit of moisture, I think we've got a really nice crop out there," commented Brackenreed. "If we can get through this period of dry and some flea beetle pressure, I think we're off to the races."
