Durum Moving Up And Canola Down In Latest Price Outlook

The latest winter outlook from G3 Canada sees rising prices for durum but lower returns for canola.

G3 Canada says demand for wheat and durum remains on the slow side while canola demand has held steady at a strong pace, both for domestic crush and export.

Since the last pool outlook, wheat futures rose, then fell back to slightly lower than a month ago.

Canola futures are also below month-ago levels after trading both lower and higher.

G3 Canada says the latest outlook is for a two dollar a ton rise for durum while canola is down five dollars a ton.

Wheat is unchanged from a month ago.

Instore Vancouver or Thunder Bay, G3 Canada estimates the price at 281 dollars a ton for number one red spring wheat, 13.5 per-cent protein.

For number one durum, 13 per-cent, the in store price is 330 dollars.

For canola, the port price is estimated at 533 dollars a ton.
