Fall Pasture Management, Continuing Education Program Set For Dec. 18 In La Vernia

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Wilson County will present the Fall Pasture Management and CEU Program from 9 a.m-3 p.m. Dec. 18 at the La Vernia Chamber of Commerce, 12301 U.S. Highway 87 in La Vernia.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a fall pasture management and Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education unit opportunity on Dec. 18 at the La Vernia Chamber of Commerce.

The program will offer five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units – one laws and regulations, one integrated pest management and three general.

Program registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m. with coffee and donuts provided. Presentations will begin after a short introduction by Bryan Davis, AgriLife Extension agent for agriculture and natural resources, Wilson County. Lunch break is from 12–12:45 p.m.

“This program will be a really good learning opportunity for area farmers and ranchers,” said Davis, who coordinated the program. “We’ve selected topics we know will interest them and have lined up some very knowledgeable AgriLife Extension speakers.”

The fee is $30 and attendees are asked to RSVP to the AgriLife Extension office for Wilson County at 830-393-7357 or wilson-tx@tamu.edu by Dec. 15.

Program topics and presenters will be:

  • Sprayer Calibration and Equipment, Dr. Bob Lyons, AgriLife Extension range management specialist, Uvalde.
  • Feral Hog Management, Dr. Jim Cathey, AgriLife Extension wildlife specialist, College Station.
  • Biting and Stinging Insects, Molly Keck, AgriLife Extension entomologist, San Antonio.
  • Managing Spray Drift, Dale Rankin, AgriLife Extension agent, Atascosa County.
  • Texas Department of Agriculture Laws and Regulations, Travis Frankie, AgriLife Extension agent,  Guadalupe County.
