Farm And Food Care Saskatchewan Brings Food Influencers To Our Province Again

For the second year in a row, Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan (FFC SK), a non-profit organization tasked with connecting consumers to agriculture, is hosting a farm tour for influential food writers, editors, bloggers, culinary academics, dietitians, and chefs.

The Farm to Fork Tour is an exciting three day expedition across the patchwork prairies that showcase our farms and all that makes up Saskatchewan’s food sector.  More than 40 national and international food experts as well as farmers, ranchers and agriculture industry representatives will participate in this journey.

“Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan is all about helping people make the connections between the food on our plate and the farmers who produce it,” explains Adele Buettner of FFC SK. “The purpose of the tour is to build relationships with key people who influence consumers and their food choices. It’s also a tremendous opportunity to showcase the abundance of food products Saskatchewan has to offer.”

The tour kicks off the evening of September 13th with a welcome reception at the Delta Bessborough. The next two days are spent touring farms, businesses and research labs in the Saskatoon area, including: the Willms farm and Wilbar Cattle Company, Great Western Brewery, Star Egg Company, the College of Agriculture & Bioresources Greenhouse and the Grains Innovation Lab at the University of Saskatchewan.

Of course food is also a highlight of this tour. Some of Saskatoon’s most talented chefs will be featured, with lunch stops at Agar’s Corner and Wanuskewin Heritage Park and dinner reservations at Boffin’s Public House and Riverside Country Club.

“This informative trip to beautiful Saskatchewan countryside closed the gap for me on Canadian farming,” expressed former tour participant Dee Foundoukis, Chef at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. “Meeting the generational family-run farms tells a proud story of Canadian farmers and one I will be sharing with many guests.”
