Farmers Continue Putting Crop In The Bin

Farmers should be able to get back in the field this week.

A couple of days of rain late last week and into the weekend delayed harvest activities in many areas.

Saskatchewan’s Crop Management Specialist Daphne Cruise says last week’s crop report showed 60% of the provincial crop was in the bin, with almost all of the winter cereals now complete.

"We are getting into the flax harvest right now, we are at 15% of the provincial flax crops in the bin, so that kind of goes to tell you that everything is ready," she said.

"Flax is one of our crops that we tend to combine last, so basically producers are working on every crop that is out there."

Harvest is most advanced in the southeast at 73%, the southwest is at 66%, the east central part of the province is at 53%, the west central at 57%, the northeast is at 54% and the northwest is at 48% complete.
