Canola growers now have even more firepower to manage the threat of sclerotinia in 2015.
DuPont Crop Protection announced today that the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has approved an expanded rate of DuPont™ Acapela® fungicide for the control of sclerotinia in canola. The new rate is 0.8L/ha to 1.2L/ha.
Acapela® was first registered in 2012 for control of key leaf diseases in pulses, cereals, soybeans and corn. In December 2013, the label was expanded to include control of sclerotinia in canola.
A Group 11 fungicide, Acapela® contains the active ingredient picoxystrobin. This active ingredient moves across, into and around the leaf to deliver strong preventative, residual and post-infection activity. This characteristic provides superior disease control for greener, healthier crops and higher yields.
Kirsten Ratzlaff, Market Segment Manager with DuPont, notes the expanded rate for Acapela® is welcome news for growers as the summer approaches. "This will give growers more flexibility, and provide a simpler and more versatile use experience," she says.
