Grain Transportation Key Issue At Canada’s Farm Progress Show In Regina

Crop research and grain transportation will be key topics Wednesday at the Saskatchewan Wheat Commission semi-annual meeting in Regina at the Farm Progress Show.

The Wheat Commission has released a report on port capacity at Vancouver.

Chair Bill Gehl says the report shows planned expansion of grain terminal capacity at Vancouver is critical for future prairie grain exports.

“Well, it’s certainly important,” Gehl said. “We’re seeing that the west coast is becoming the destination-of-exit for all grain shipment out of western Canada. Not just wheat, but oilseed and pulses as well. WE’re seeing that St. Laurence and Thunder Bay is becoming less of importance.”
