Growing a Diversified Agriculture Industry

Torbay, Newfoundland and Labrador – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

The annual Agrifoods and Garden Show, the largest agriculture event in the province, will receive $150,000 in funding from the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Growing Forward 2 Agreement, through the Market Development Initiative. The investment will help increase awareness about the diversity of the agriculture and agrifoods industry and its economic contribution to the province.

The Agrifoods and Garden Show is organized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture and is being held this year at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay from October 3rd to 5th.

Quick facts

  • More than 30 exhibitors are taking part in this year’s Agrifoods and Garden Show, which will also include a farmers’ market, information sessions and cooking demonstrations.
  • Growing Forward 2 is a five-year policy framework and is providing $37 million in federal and provincial investments in innovation, competitiveness and market development for the Newfoundland and Labrador agriculture and agrifoods industry.
