KAP Applauds Consultation Period Extension For Deferred Cash Purchase Tickets

Farmers will have some extra time to voice their opinions on deferred cash purchase tickets for grain deliveries.

In its spring budget, the federal government said it intended to review the use of deferred cash purchase tickets with the possibility of getting rid of them altogether.

The public comment period has been extended to July 24, 2017. It had originally been set for May 24, 2017.

Keystone Agricultural Producers President Dan Mazier says the extension is a good sign.

"It means that the agriculture department probably got a hold of them [finance department] and said 'no, this needs a lot more review. If you're going to tinker with it at all, or change it, or delete it; we need a lot more input.'"
