Learn About Solar Energy At LeMars Conference Sept. 2

People with an interest in learning more about alternative energy systems for home, farm or business have an opportunity to hear first hand about successful solar energy projects in Iowa. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Plymouth County and USDA Rural Development are offering a Solar Energy Conference on Sept. 2 at the Le Mars Convention Center from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.  

The conference will address the latest research in Iowa’s renewable energy source of solar power as well as regulatory considerations and financing options. “The conference gives people a chance to explore the possibilities in solar energy and find out how they might finance solar projects,” said Janelle Johnson, program coordinator with ISU Extension and Outreach, Plymouth County.iastate.edu

The keynote speaker will be Bill Haman from the Iowa Energy Center. A panel of local solar energy users will share real life experiences. Panelists include Randy Warner, Ridge View Farms in Rock Rapids; Tom Gustafson, Lakes Area Storage from Spirit Lake; Lyle Korver, North West Rural Electric Cooperative; and Andy Carlson of Cherokee.
