Manitoba Agriculture Crop Report

 
  • All regions reported precipitation, with amounts ranging from 15 to 55 mm. In most regions crops and pastures benefitted from these rains. Cool temperatures have slowed growth of corn and soybeans.
     
  • Herbicide applications continue as weather conditions allow. Crops in most areas have received one herbicide application. Fungicide applications are just beginning, largely in winter and spring wheat for management of fusarium head blight and leaf diseases.
     
  • Iron deficiency chlorisis has been observed in soybeans in central and eastern regions, although some recovery is noticeable.
     
  • First cut haying has been continuing as weather conditions allow. Alfalfa weevil has been reported in the Southwest and Interlake regions.
