The average value of farmland in Manitoba increased by 25.6 percent in 2013, according to Farm Credit Canada's annual farmland values report released Monday.
Manitoba saw the second highest increase in the country, with Saskatchewan farmland prices rising 28.5 percent.
The agriculture lender reports strong grain prices in the first half of the year, surging cattle prices and low interest rates contributed to the strong upward trend in Manitoba, which followed increases of 25.6 percent in 2012 and 4.4 percent in 2011.
Nationally, farmland values increased by an average of 22.1 percent in 2013.
