MB Group Seeks Water Management Advice From Sask

Manitoba producers are looking to Saskatchewan for advice on water management.

Earlier this week, representatives from the Saskatchewan Farm Stewardship Association (SaskFSA) were invited to attend the annual meeting held by the newly formed Manitoba Agricultural Water Management Association (MAWMA).

SaskFSA Administrator Char Slager told producers that it's important to have a consistent message when approaching government.

"Probably one of the biggest challenges is that we felt we needed to be able to say what we were unhappy with but also to offer a solution because a lot of times people will complain to government but they won't offer to be part of the solution."

Slager says Saskatchewan is often viewed as draining and drowning Manitobans and that they wanted to attend the meeting to show that they are committed to working together.

Chris Unrau, president of MAWMA, said that SaskFSA is a great model to follow.
