MPSG Welcomes Manitoba’s New Agriculture Minister

The Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers (MPSG) wants to extend a friendly Manitoba welcome and a hearty congratulations to the province’s recently appointed agriculture minister, Ralph Eichler. Premier Brian Pallister announced his 12-person cabinet during his swearing-in ceremony today at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

The association looks forward to working together with the Progressive Conservative Lakeside MLA to further strengthen the already strong and growing agriculture sector in Manitoba.

“This is an exciting time for Manitoba,” says MPSG’s Executive Director Francois Labelle. “The province’s future looks bright. We are confident in Mr. Eichler’s ability to lead and make sound, prudent decisions, and we’re excited for the opportunity to cultivate strong relationships with him and his office.”

Jason Voth, Chair of the MPSG Board, echoed Labelle’s enthusiasm over the appointment.

“Agriculture is such an integral part of our province,” says Voth. “Pulse and Soybean acres are strong here, and it should be encouraging to our membership that someone with Mr. Eichler’s expertise is at the helm. We look forward to collaborating with him.”

Pallister anticipates challenges as premier, according to a release issued by the province today, but remains committed to, among other things, lowering taxes and strengthening the economy.

“I am humbled and honoured by the opportunity to serve Manitoba,” says Pallister.  “Our team’s plan for a better Manitoba with lower taxes, better services and a stronger economy was overwhelmingly endorsed by Manitobans.  We look forward to the opportunity to turn those commitments into reality.  We know the job ahead of us will not be easy, but this is the right team to get Manitoba back on track.

Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers looks forward to being a part of Mr. Eichler’s extended team helping make agriculture and Manitoba strong.
