The Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) is accepting applications, until July 13, 2017, for projects that will test and assess the feasibility of renewable energy technologies under the Greenhouse Renewable Energy Technologies (GRET) R&D Initiative.
The GRET R&D Initiative is a $1 million initiative to support innovative research and development projects that will benefit commercial greenhouse businesses in Ontario, including vegetables, floriculture, fruit and culinary herbs.
Eligible applicants include any organization, company, or research institution involved in a project benefiting the greenhouse sector in Ontario. Funding assistance will be provided to:
Undertake pilot-scale demonstrations, or,
Complete feasibility studies to investigate renewable energy technologies.
Funding for the GRET R&D Initiative is provided by the Government of Ontario. As part of the Climate Change Action Plan, Ontario is committed to expand the use of innovative technologies and practices in its food and beverage-processing sector, and to support the transition to low-carbon, indoor agricultural facilities, such as greenhouses.
The AAC is based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and is a leader in program delivery. The AAC is a not-for-profit organization that is made up of over 60 Ontario agricultural, agri-food and rural organizations.
