Newbury, UK, and Minneapolis, MN, USA (AgPR), March 17, 2016 -- SOYL’s new precision crop production app for the iPad,iSOYL, has been named a ‘2016 FinOvation Award' winner by the global news site Farm Industry News.

iSOYL, launched in November 2014, is a pioneering system that makes variable rate application of seed or fertilizer simple and very cost effective. The app takes shape file prescription application maps and can work with a wide range of implement controllers. iSOYL uses a smart cable to connect the iPad with all popular makes of farm spreaders, sprayers and planters. The full color display on the iPad makes prescription application maps clear and very easy to navigate. For growers wanting to get started with variable rate technology the iSOYL solution drastically reduces the costs involved.

FinOvation Award honorees were selected based on reader interest in features related to new products launched between November 2014 to October 2015. iSOYL for iPad is one of just 21 agricultural innovations worldwide to receive this recognition this year.

Simon Parrington, SOYL commercial director said: “We’re proud of SOYL’s record of leading the way with precision crop production in the UK. We have developed a string of ‘first to market’ innovations since 1993 and we’re delighted to receive this recognition.

“iSOYL was created in response to feedback from growers that they wanted to communicate information between the office and the cab better. The app can make a real difference if you are in the tractor cab amending application files on the move or dropping markers to record a point of interest in a particular field for future reference. There’s no need to wait until you return to the office to update records, it can all be done in the cab, on the go, potentially saving time and costs and improving the accuracy of record keeping relating to individual fields.”
