New Products and Uses for Berry Growers in 2018

New fungicides and insecticides are available for berry growers this season. Diplomat 5SC is a new fungicide registered in Ontario. Kopa, Fracture and Tivano have had label and use changes.

The following products are new product registrations and changes from October 2017 to April 2018. In addition to Publication 360, Fruit Crop Protection Guide, 2018-2019, use the table below for your berry pest management program.

Diplomat 5SC (Group 19) is registered for suppression of Botrytis twig blight and blossom blight on blueberries,  suppression of Botrytis grey mould on blueberries, currant, gooseberries, raspberries and blackberries, and strawberries, and suppression of powdery mildew on strawberries.

Kopa* (NC) is registered for control of aphids on blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries, and two spotted spider mite on raspberries, blackberries and strawberries.

Tivano* (NC) has had a rate change for suppression of angular leaf spot on strawberries. The rate is now 12 L/ha.

Fracture (NC) is registered for control of Botrytis grey mould on strawberries.

Harvest is wrapped, and so is our grain bin project. We started this back in March by tearing down some old bins to make way for the new grain system. In the process we've added speed in unloading and drying while adding 70,000 bushels of storage to the farm.
