Nominations now accepted for Women in Ag Awards

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Nominations for this year's Women in Agriculture Awards will be accepted by the Purdue Extension Women in Agriculture Team through May 12.

There are two categories - leadership and achievement. Both awards are given annually to leaders and innovators in the field of agriculture in Indiana.

"It's an honor to recognize the extraordinary women of Indiana's ag industry," said Danica Kirkpatrick, engagement program manager for Purdue Agriculture and Women in Agriculture Awards co-chair.

Nominees for the Achievement Award must be an essential part of their family business or personal farm business. Leadership Award nominees are those who hold leadership roles in agriculture such as a corporate, educational, nonprofit, veterinarian or service positions.

Women may nominate themselves or others and are eligible only if they reside in Indiana, are involved in agriculture and are not currently employed by Purdue. The nominator must submit a nomination form found on the Women in Agriculture website https://ag.purdue.edu/extension/WIA/Pages/default.aspx. It must be submitted to Jeanette Merritt at jkmerritt@purdue.edu.

The honorees will be recognized in August at the Indiana State Fair as part of the lieutenant governor's Celebration of Agriculture Awards ceremony and receive free registration and lodging for the 2015 Midwest Women in Agriculture conference.
