PROVINCE APPOINTS NEW CEO TO THE MANITOBA AGRICULTURAL SERVICES CORPORATION

The Manitoba government has appointed Jared Munro as the new president and chief executive officer of the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC), Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler announced today.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jared Munro, building on his years of experience in the agricultural sector and with MASC,” said Eichler.  “MASC is an essential partner for many Manitoba farmers and his expertise will be invaluable in supporting that work.”

Munro became acting CEO in June 2017 after working with MASC for the last 10 years.  He has previously served as the vice-president of research and program development, the manager of the flood recovery office and an agronomist.  Before joining MASC, Munro also worked extensively in the private sector for the agriculture industry.

“The board of directors is pleased to welcome Mr. Munro as its new president and CEO,” said Jim Wilson, chair.  “He has been a valued member of the executive management team at MASC.  We are confident that he can lead MASC in building upon its strong history and success of enhancing financial stability in rural Manitoba, by providing risk management solutions, lending options and other programs and services to address emerging needs in Manitoba’s agriculture sectors.”

Munro comes from a sixth-generation farming operation in the Portage la Prairie area and is still actively involved in the business.  He is a dedicated community volunteer and enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.
