“Indiana cantaloupe and watermelon growers continue to face many challenges as they prepare for the 2015 harvest,” said Scott Monroe, Food Safety Educator and one of the workshop organizers. “The need for a safe harvest makes packinghouse preparation a critical item.”

Discussion will focus on current produce food safety technology, regulatory developments, and preparing packinghouses for harvest.

Representatives from the Indiana State Department of Health and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture will give updates on current produce food safety initiatives and activities.

The workshop is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. High heels will not be permitted.

If you need reasonable accommodations to participate in this program, contact Monroe at 765-427-9910 or call 888-EXT-INFO prior to the meeting.
