A strong wind and rain storm is battering Regina and southern Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips says there may be some minor flurries in Regina.
He says Saskatoon could receive up to 15 centimeters of snow this week, but Regina will only see some flurries.
He doesn’t expect the snow to stay, saying it should melt away by Saturday.
He says there could be record cold daytime highs this week.
The record cold daytime high is plus two set in 1925, and the thermometer may struggle to reach that level.
He says the weather is expected to turn milder on the weekend and reach daytime highs next week of plus 10 or better.
Farmers are hoping for an extended warm dry spell to wrap up harvest and Phillips says the long-range outlook is for warm dry weather in southern Saskatchewan.
Phillips says odds favour a milder than normal winter in southern Saskatchewan this year, but it won’t be as warm as last winter.
