Royal Manitoba Winter Fair Gets Underway Next Week

Organizers are hoping to see over 100,000 people pass through the doors of the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair taking place March 30 - April 4th at the Keystone Centre in Brandon.

Activities get underway Sunday, March 29 with the beef carcass class Calcutta taking place at Heartland Livestock Services.

Ron Kristjansson is the general manager for the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba.

He says as always, there will be plenty of activities for the kids.

"We have our Royal Farm Yard where there's lots of live farm animals [and] Thru The Farm Gate. We have all kinds of agriculture displays and we have a learning stage down there that has different presentations to learn a bit about agriculture and what goes on in our ag industry."

Kristjansson adds that a youth cattle show will also take place April 2 - 4, with celebrities and sponsors taking part on April 4.

The fair will also feature about 280 trade booths featuring agriculture related equipment and lifestyle displays.

Kristjansson notes that over 60 per cent of attendees travel more than 80 kilometres to attend the fair.
