Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart Says 2016 Difficult For Farmers

Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart says 2016 goes into the record books as a difficult year for Saskatchewan farmers.

Stewart says excessive moisture delayed harvest, with many farmers wrapping up in November.

He adds there’s still about 1.5 million acres to be combined in the spring.

But he says the crop was still over 35 million tons, the second largest production ever.

For 2017, he expects farm commodity prices to remain relatively stable.
