Saskatchewan cattle producers are getting disaster assistance after devastating wildfires this fall.
The support will cover loss of grazing land with a maximum of 30 thousand dollars.
Chad MacPherson, general manager of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers, says producers who lost tame and native grassland to wildfires can apply for support to feed affected livestock.
“This program will be very welcome for the producers that lost so much due to the wildfires,” MacPherson said. “It will go a long way to helping them get back on their feet and helping them withstand this disaster.”
A grassfire near Glentworth in September damaged about 35 hundred acres.
In October, wildfires near Burstall, Leader and Tompkins destroyed 80 thousand acres of crop and pastureland.
