Saskatchewan Hail Claims Keep Adjusters Busy

Hail claims at Saskatchewan’s largest hail insurer are about normal for this summer.

Darryl Tiefenbach, field operations manager with Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurance, says there were several hail storms in southwest Saskatchewan over the weekend.

He says there was hail starting Friday night near Eastend, north of Golden Prairie and near Moose Jaw.

He expects there were other areas of the southwest affected on the weekend.
So far, he says adjusters are working on the western half of the province, on fairly heavy storm dates July 3rd and 4th.

He says every day in July has some claims, but adjusters will be working through fairly quickly.

The worst hail storm was July 3rd and 4th and hit Kindersley, Outlook, Shaunavon, Ponteix and Assiniboia.

There was some baseball sized hail, but he says they usually fall straight down and are sporadic.

He says the worst damage usually comes from pea and loonie size hail with strong winds.

Hail claims have come from across the province.
