Job Description
 
SaskCanola (Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission) is a producer led organization, established in 1991 and supported by some 26,000 levy-paying Saskatchewan canola producers. SaskCanola’s mission is to provide value to canola producers through advocacy, research, and market development.
 
The Communications Manager will lead in the development of communications activities that span across the organization’s strategic goals. The key objectives of this role include:
  1. Effective communications with respect to agricultural producers and stakeholders; consumer and influencers; media and government necessary to ensure a vibrant and prosperous agricultural industry.
     
  2. Build and expand recognition of the organization and the industry, its positive impact on our economy, our environment and our health.
This position will work closely with SaskCanola staff, and will report directly to the Executive Director. 
 
Qualifications and Education Requirements
 
The successful candidate will have a University degree (business, marketing or communications preferred) with 3 -5 years’ experience, and a strong agricultural background. They should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, for business purposes.
 
The ideal candidate will have proven success in communications and media relations. He or she should be organized, have excellent communication, public relations and interpersonal skills, be   self-motivated, and work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
