Seeding Near Its End, But Farmers Fret About Moisture

The provincial agriculture ministry’s crop report for the week ending Thursday says about 87 per cent of the crop is now in the ground.

That’s well ahead of the five-year (2010-2014) average for this time of year (61 per cent).

Most advanced are the province’s southwestern and west-central regions, with 93 per cent of the crop in the ground.

But they’re also the regions with the biggest deficit in moisture, said ministry spokeswoman Shannon Friesen.
