USDA Export sales Report

This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period September 11-17, 2015.

Wheat:  Net sales of 282,800 metric tons for delivery in marketing year 2015/2016 were down 25 percent from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for the Philippines (115,600 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Japan (94,900 MT, including 34,400 MT switched from unknown destinations), China (59,700 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Colombia (38,500 MT, including 38,700 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 6,500 MT), Jamaica (36,000 MT), and Mexico (31,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (162,900 MT), Guatemala (5,200 MT), Thailand (3,300 MT), and Panama (2,800 MT).  Net sales of 30,900 MT for 2016/2017 were reported for unknown destinations (18,900 MT), Guatemala (5,200 MT), El Salvador (4,000 MT), and Panama (2,800 MT).  Exports of 614,900 MT were up 13 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior-4 week average.  The primary destinations were China (103,800 MT), Mexico (81,800 MT), Colombia (69,800 MT), the Philippines (65,600 MT), Taiwan (51,100 MT), and Thailand (48,700 MT).

Exports for Own Account:  Exports for own account to Italy (1,300 MT) were applied to new or outstanding sales.  The current exports for own account balance is 55,900 MT, all Italy.

Corn:  Net sales of 426,300 MT for delivery in 2015/2016 were down 20 percent from the previous week.  Increases were reported primarily for Mexico (159,600 MT), Colombia (154,700 MT, including 93,600 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,100 MT), Bangladesh (54,300 MT, including 50,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Guatemala (39,900 MT), and Taiwan (18,100 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (23,800 MT) and Japan (4,700 MT).  Exports of 795,400 MT were down 1 percent from the previous week.  The primary destinations were Mexico (281,500 MT), Japan (187,700 MT), Colombia (163,600 MT), Bangladesh (54,300 MT), Peru (32,600 MT), Canada (28,000 MT), and Guatemala (21,800 MT).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2015/2016, new optional origin sales totaling 108,000 MT were reported for unknown destinations.  Decreases in optional origin sales totaling 58,000 MT were reported for unknown destinations.  Outstanding optional origin sales total 449,000 MT, all unknown destinations. 

Barley:  There were no sales or exports reported during the week.

Sorghum: Net sales of 58,200 MT for 2015/2016 were up noticeably from the previous week.  Increases reported for China (228,900 MT, including 167,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,400 MT) and Mexico (6,400 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (167,000 MT) and Japan (10,000 MT).  Exports of 169,300 MT were to China (167,900 MT) and Mexico (1,400 MT).

Rice:  Net sales of 59,200 MT for 2015/2016, up 21 percent from the previous week, but down 2 percent from the prior 4-week average, were reported for Haiti (15,200 MT), Mexico (15,100 MT), the United Kingdom (9,000 MT), Saudi Arabia (8,500 MT), and unknown destinations (5,000 MT).  Exports of 93,600 MT, up 26 percent from the previous week, but down 10 percent from the prior 4-week average, were reported to Mexico (31,700 MT), Iraq (31,000 MT), Japan (12,000 MT), Haiti (7,000 MT), and Honduras (3,300 MT). 

Exports for Own Account:  The current export for own account balance is 500 MT, all Canada.

Soybeans:  Net sales of 1,316,000 MT for 2015/2016, up 44 percent from the previous week, were primarily for China (762,700 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 73,700 MT), unknown destinations (302,500 MT), the Netherlands (85,300 MT, including 78,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Canada (30,100 MT), Venezuela (30,000 MT), and Tunisia (30,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for Guatemala (500 MT) and South Korea (200 MT).  Exports of 349,300 MT were primarily to China (177,900 MT), the Netherlands (85,300 MT), Japan (43,900 MT), Mexico (14,400 MT), Taiwan (9,900 MT), and Indonesia (7,600 MT).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2015/2016, options were exercised to export 55,000 MT to China from the United States.  Outstanding optional origin sales total 175,000 MT, all China.

Exports for Own Account:  The current exports for own account balance is 1,900 MT, all Canada.

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 25,800 MT for 2014/2015 were down 37 percent from the previous week and 4 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Venezuela (15,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (10,600 MT), Colombia (6,600 MT), Canada (5,400 MT), and the Philippines (1,600 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (15,000 MT) and Guatemala (100 MT).  Net sales of 86,900 MT for 2015/2016 were reported primarily for unknown destinations (20,800 MT), Guatemala (15,700 MT), Mexico (15,100 MT), and Canada (13,600 MT).  Exports of 90,400 MT were down 32 percent from the previous week and 40 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (25,300 MT), Venezuela (15,000 MT), Canada (13,800 MT), Honduras (10,700 MT), Guatemala (8,900 MT), and Colombia (6,600 MT). 

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 18,800 MT for 2014/2015 were up 47 percent from the previous week and 86 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Canada (8,000 MT), Peru (7,100 MT), and Mexico (3,500 MT).  Net sales of 48,000 MT for 2015/2016 were reported primarily for Egypt (25,000 MT), Guatemala (9,000 MT), the Dominican Republic (9,000 MT), and Mexico (2,500 MT).  Exports of 24,700 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Canada (10,500 MT), Venezuela (10,000 MT), and Mexico (4,100 MT).

Cotton:   Net upland sales totaling 90,800 RB for 2015/2016 were down 6 percent from the previous week, but up 18 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Vietnam (22,200 RB, including 700 RB switched from Japan and decreases of 4,500 RB), Mexico (15,900 RB), Turkey (14,200 RB), Guatemala (12,300 RB), and China (10,600 RB).  Decreases were reported for Colombia (5,000 RB), Japan (600 RB), and Egypt (100 RB).  Net sales of 5,000 RB for 2016/2017 were reported for Mexico.  Exports of 109,300 RB were up 84 percent from the previous week, but down 3 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (26,100 RB), Indonesia (17,600 RB), Vietnam (12,200 RB), and South Korea (10,100 RB).  Net sales of Pima totaling 9,800 RB for 2015/2016 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.   Increases were reported for India (3,400 RB), China (2,200 RB), Indonesia (2,000 RB), and Egypt (900 RB).  Exports of 5,200 RB were down 26 percent from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Peru (2,500 RB), India (1,600 RB), and Egypt (900 RB). 

Exports for Own Account:  Decreases in exports for own account totaling 1,100 RB were reported to China.  The current exports for own account balance is 65,000 RB, and is for China (47,700 RB) and Vietnam (17,300 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 351,000 pieces for 2015, were up 81 percent from the previous week and 35 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 350,100 pieces were primarily for China (214,600 pieces), South Korea (69,400 pieces), Mexico (33,700 pieces), Taiwan (19,800 pieces), and Vietnam (6,700 pieces). Decreases were reported for Thailand (1,100 pieces).  Exports of 511,800 pieces were up 53 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports totaling 500,600 pieces were primarily to China (284,600 pieces), South Korea (104,500 pieces), Taiwan (30,300 pieces), Mexico (26,800 pieces), Thailand (20,100 pieces), and Vietnam (13,800 pieces).

Net sales of 207,000 wet blues for 2015 were up noticeably from the previous week and 81 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Italy (54,500 unsplit and 34,600 grain splits), Vietnam (51,000 unsplit), China (30,100 unsplit), and Mexico (13,200 grain splits).  Decreases were reported for Hong Kong (2,100 grain splits), China (1,400 grain splits), and South Korea (500 unsplit).  For 2016, net sales of 100 wet blues resulted as increases for Hong Kong (2,100 grain splits) and China (400 grain splits), were partially offset of decreases for Taiwan (2,400 unsplit).  Exports of 119,000 wet blues were up 3 percent from the previous week, but down 16 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (28,500 unsplit and 11,000 grain splits), Mexico (13,900 grain splits and 11,100 unsplit), Vietnam (19,200 unsplit), and Italy (12,900 unsplit and 5,400 grain splits).  Net sales reductions of splits totaling 856,300 pounds for 2015 were reported for South Korea (823,700 pounds), Vietnam (30,900 pounds), and Taiwan (1,700 pounds).   For 2016, net sales reductions of 3,900 pounds were for China (3,500 pounds) and Italy (400 pounds).  Exports of 82,800 pounds were down 56 percent from the previous week and 84 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destination was South Korea.

Beef:  Net sales of 16,500 MT for 2015 were up 37 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Hong Kong (5,300 MT), Japan (4,200 MT), South Korea (3,100 MT), Mexico (1,200 MT), and Canada (700 MT).  Net sales of 500 MT for 2016 were reported for Canada (400 MT) and Japan (100 MT).  Exports of 12,300 MT were up 40 percent from the previous week and 25 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (3,400 MT), South Korea (2,500 MT), Hong Kong (2,000 MT), Mexico (1,900 MT), and Canada (1,000).

Pork:  Net sales of 20,700 MT for 2015 were up 39 percent from the previous week and 20 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (7,600 MT), Japan (4,200 MT), Canada (3,900 MT), South Korea (1,500 MT), and the Philippines (700 MT).  Exports of 18,200 MT were up 22 percent from the previous week and 15 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (6,200 MT), Japan (4,500 MT), Canada (1,800 MT), South Korea (1,300 MT), and the Philippines (800 MT).

Just because your soybeans are not looking perky, it does not mean the current drought is just depriving them of moisture. Stephanie Porter, Outreach Agronomist with the IL Soybean Association, says insects and disease could be the culprit, so scouting for them should be a priority.
